Last Saturday I had the pleasure of shooting engagement photos for Holly and Ronnie, a cute young couple from Helotes. Last year, Holly was the maid of honor in her best friend’s wedding and she hired me to shoot the bridal shower celebration as a surprise for the bride. Now it’s Holly’s turn to be the bride and I’m so happy I had the opportunity to capture their love with a special engagement shoot at The Pearl Brewery downtown!

How They Met

The story about how Holly met Ronnie begins the old-fashion way, at a bar. The two met in February of 2014. Holly and her girlfriends had gone to the rodeo that day and decided to end the night at Thirsty Horse Saloon to do a little dancing and keep the fun going. At one point during the night, Holly and her friends were separated from one another at the bar, and she was sitting on the patio outside by herself. That’s when she saw Ronnie. Maybe it was her “liquid courage” as she says, but as soon as Holly spotted him walking out on the patio, she knew she wanted to talk to Ronnie and approached him without hesitation. The two talked, danced and had a blast that night. They exchanged numbers and even decided to hang out again the very next day. Holly says the rest is history! “It’s true what they say, you find love when you aren’t looking for it.” She believes Ronnie came into her life at the perfect time, and she is so thankful they met when they did.

The Proposal

So how did Ronnie propose? In the kitchen, after work, while Holly was barefoot eating a slice of pizza over the stove. There was no elaborate production, hidden cameras, fireworks or surprises accompanying this proposal, but Holly says she wouldn’t want it any other way. It was perfect for her, and she had no idea it was coming!
